Keith Evans was performing at the Cruise-In on keyboards and vocals, and Morris 'Tarp' (age 69) Tarrant
was on drums. Keith is from Fitzgerald, Ga., and Tarp is from Adel, GA. Tarp
played drums on the road with Jerry Lee Lewis for 13 years. In
addition,Tarp drummed behind Charlie Rich, Carl Perkins, Mac Davis,
Little Richard, James Brown, and many others during his career. Tarp was
the first 'white' musician/drummer permitted to perform on stage at the
Apollo Theatre.(a predominately 'black' venue). Keith was lead
vocalist at some point with The Atlanta Rhythm Section, sang backup with
Melanie on her hit song 'Brand New Key', and on many other songs. Keith
also wrote/performed the score for the TV series starring Carroll
O'Conner called 'In the Heat of the Night', and has won Emmy, and Grammy
awards for his musical scores.
